How do microneedling work?

Microneedling is a procedure that uses small needles to prick the skin causing minor injuries. These pricks eventually heal and generate new collagen and skin tissue for smoother, firmer, and toned skin. Phase 1: Swelling. The medical provider will pierce your skin using an FDA cleared device. This will trigger your immune system to disinfect the wounds, remove debris, increase blood flow, and begin to create new tissue. Phase 2: Reproduction. During this phase, the wound will rebuild with new granulation cells, which are part of the extracellular matrix. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels will develop Phase 3 : Remodeling. The micro-injuries will be replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels.

What areas can I treat?

Microneedling can be used anywhere on the body but the number of treatments recommended may differ based on the area you desire treatment.

What benefits will I see?

Improved skin texture, reduction in wrinkles, and minimized fine lines. You will also notice a reduction in the appearance of static lines, sun damage, skin scarring, acne scars, stretch marks, hyperpigmentation, age spots, rosacea, and melasma. Rejuvenate the skin and make it glow!

When should I expect to see results?

Results will vary by patient and by skin type. We recommend waiting 4-6 weeks in between sessions with at least 3 sessions to see optimal results. The treatment is relatively painless and our team will make sure you are comfortable prior to the procedure with the application of a topical numbing agent.

What is RF Microneedling?

RF microneedling takes the results of Skin Pen microneedling to the next level. This treatment works to eliminate years of damaged skin caused by the sun and the normal aging process. This treatment also stimulates the production of your body’s own collagen. It is a non-surgical solution to skin resurfacing that corrects signs of skin damage and improves the appearance of acne scars, wrinkles, stretch marks, rosacea, enlarged pores, and uneven skin texture. Create the results of a CO2 laser without downtime with this heat-based resurfacing.

What does a RF Microneedling treatment do?

RF Microneedling adds the element of radiofrequency energy to the traditional microneedling procedure. The RF energy is delivered via small needles. In addition to the benefits seen with the micro-injury provided by the microneedles, RF microneedling also delivers RF energy deep into the dermis further enhancing skin tightening and scar reduction. The RF energy heats the underlying layers, causing constriction and tightening of the skin, as well as the stimulation of collagen and elastin production. Because the RF energy is delivered so deeply, it can produce faster, more dramatic results. RF microneedling can offer similar results to ablative laser procedures, but with significantly less discomfort and downtime. A topical anesthetic is applied prior to treatment to ensure comfort throughout the procedure.

How long is the treatment and what how much downtime should I expect?

Treatment usually takes 45 minutes – 1 hour, depending on the size of the treatment area. Skin is typically red for the first day or two after treatment, but the redness is typically mild and much less than is often seen with laser procedures. It is little or no discomfort after the procedure and patients typically are able to return to regular activities within a day while being cautious about sun exposure and excessive sweating after the procedure.

What is the difference between Botox and Dysport?

Botox and Dysport are both purified neuromodulator proteins. Through clinical studies and our experience, we believe Botox and Dysport perform equally. Botox® Cosmetic is an FDA-approved injectable that can be used to temporarily improve the appearance of forehead wrinkles, wrinkles in between the brows (glabella), and crow’s feet in adults. Botox® uses a form of botulinum toxin to temporarily paralyze muscle activity, which effectively relaxes the muscles and reduces the appearance of wrinkles on the skin. Botox® can also be used to reduce the effects of excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis). Dysport is used to temporarily improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows, forehead lines and the wrinkles around your eyes. The main difference between Botox and Dysport (besides the manufacturer) is the number of units. One unit of Botox is equivalent to three units of Dysport. The pricing is equal but we can discuss during your consultation which product is best for you! Dysport and Botox are used to treat and prevent wrinkles in adults. These noninvasive injections help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by relaxing the underlying muscles beneath the skin. By relaxing and stilling the muscles, the skin above them turns smoother. Neither treatment gets rid of existing wrinkles for good, but the effects are meant to make wrinkles less noticeable. While both treatments contain a similar main active ingredient, trace protein amounts can vary. This can make one treatment more effective than another for some people.

Our primary fillers that are used are Juvederm and Restylane fillers which is made of hyaluronic acid. Acid may sound scary, but these are natural substances, i.e. Hyaluronic acid, which your body already has/creates, but starts to lose with normal aging. Fillers vary in thickness and viscosity and it is our job to determine which product would be best for the area you are looking to treat to create the most natural result. The use of fillers can be for addressing volume loss, wrinkles in the face or loss of plumpness in the face. As we age, our skin is more susceptible to wrinkles. This starts in our 20’s and continues to progress well into our 50’s and 60’s. We start to have a shifting in our facial fat pads, along with depletion and bony resorption. Fillers help to restore this volume and restore the structure that we lose in our face

How much does filler cost?

Every patients needs are different and there are a wide variety of treatments involving filler as well as various areas where they can be placed. With that in mind, cost can be variable based on your personal goals and the amount of correction needed.

When will I see results?

Results are visible immediately after treatment. The healing process can take 2-10 days based on swelling, the amount injected, the area injected and how your body responds to treatment. The product continues to settle for 2 weeks so please plan ahead before any major events or trips!

How long do results last for?

This is variable based on the area treated, your age, your starting point and the amount of sessions completed. Some patients may also metabolize faster than others. This can vary from 6-18 months.
