How do microneedling work?

Microneedling is a procedure that uses small needles to prick the skin causing minor injuries. These pricks eventually heal and generate new collagen and skin tissue for smoother, firmer, and toned skin. Phase 1: Swelling. The medical provider will pierce your skin using an FDA cleared device. This will trigger your immune system to disinfect the wounds, remove debris, increase blood flow, and begin to create new tissue. Phase 2: Reproduction. During this phase, the wound will rebuild with new granulation cells, which are part of the extracellular matrix. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels will develop Phase 3 : Remodeling. The micro-injuries will be replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels.

What areas can I treat?

Microneedling can be used anywhere on the body but the number of treatments recommended may differ based on the area you desire treatment.

What is RF Microneedling?

RF microneedling takes the results of Skin Pen microneedling to the next level. This treatment works to eliminate years of damaged skin caused by the sun and the normal aging process. This treatment also stimulates the production of your body’s own collagen. It is a non-surgical solution to skin resurfacing that corrects signs of skin damage and improves the appearance of acne scars, wrinkles, stretch marks, rosacea, enlarged pores, and uneven skin texture. What does a RF Microneedling treatment do?

RF Microneedling adds the element of radiofrequency energy to the traditional microneedling procedure. The RF energy is delivered via small needles. In addition to the benefits seen with the micro-injury provided by the microneedles, RF microneedling also delivers RF energy deep into the dermis further enhancing skin tightening and scar reduction. The RF energy heats the underlying layers, causing constriction and tightening of the skin, as well as the stimulation of collagen and elastin production. Because the RF energy is delivered so deeply, it can produce faster, more dramatic results. RF microneedling can offer similar results to ablative laser procedures, but with significantly less discomfort and downtime. A topical anesthetic is applied prior to treatment to ensure comfort throughout the procedure.

How long is the treatment and what how much downtime should I expect?

Treatment usually takes 45 minutes – 1 hour, depending on the size of the treatment area. Skin is typically red for the first day or two after treatment, but the redness is typically mild and much less than is often seen with laser procedures. It is little or no discomfort after the procedure and patients typically are able to return to regular activities within a day while being cautious about sun exposure and excessive sweating after the procedure.

Are there any side effects for Botox/Dysport?

Side effects are generally mild and may include temporary redness or swelling at the injection site. Most clients experience minimal to no downtime, resuming normal activities shortly after treatment.

For optimal results, treatments are typically recommended every three to four months, depending on individual response and aesthetic goals.
