Side Effects and Risks

Less common are lumps, asymmetry, or product spreading past the treated area. These are correctable, because hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase.
Rare but serious is vascular occlusion, where filler blocks a blood vessel. This is exactly why your injector needs to know the blood supply of this area and keep hyaluronidase on hand. That’s a fair question to ask any clinic, and a good one to ask us!

Which Filler Goes in the Chin
Your chin needs a firm gel that holds its shape under the muscle above it. A soft filler formulated for lips would spread instead of supporting the chin.
Juvéderm Voluma XC was the first filler to receive FDA approval for chin augmentation, in adults over 21. Restylane Defyne is approved for chin retrusion, and Juvéderm Volux XC is approved for jawline definition, which makes it a good fit when the chin and jaw are treated together.
