Laser Acne Treatment How we treat it!

Here at Chin Up! Aesthetics we use the Venus Versa Acne Dual applicator uses Intense Pulsed Light with SmartPulse technology to treat both the underlying cause and the visible symptoms of acne.

This device delivers a combination of blue and red light simultaneously to attack that unwanted acne. The blue light destroys acne-causing bacteria in the oil glands, while the red light reduces existing acne-related inflammation.

This allows the skin to heal at a faster rate. Research shows that when blue and red light are administered together, the results are much better than with just blue light alone.

At the same time, an advanced real-time cooling system keeps skin protected from the heat, making the treatment even more comfortable.

What is acne?

Did you know that acne affects up to 50 million Americans annually, making it the most common skin condition in the United States. Contrary to what a lot of people think, acne is not limited to just adolescence. In fact, many people struggle with acne on the face and body well into their adult life. Acne is usually caused by overactive sebaceous glands that produce too much oil and clog pores. Combined with the presence of P. acnes bacteria, this is what leads to the blackheads, whiteheads, and inflammation associated with acne.

Some different forms of acne include:

  •  Whiteheads
  • Blackheads
  • Small, red, tender bumps
  • Pimples
  • Large, solid, lumps under the skin

Although acne usually appears on the face, we see a lot of patients have acne on their forehead, chest, upper back and sholder

What should I do before my acne treatment?

Prior to receiving treatment, you must make sure your skin is clean.

Make certain to avoid applying any lotions, creams, or makeup before your session, and stop using any products that might irritate your skin 2-3 days before. You should also avoid tanning. You may be advised to shave the area before your treatment. Remove all jewelry around the area being treated.

How many treatments are needed?

You will be pleased to know that this treatment, after the initial consultation, takes 15-20 minutes. It’s a perfect treatment for that lunch break! Most of our patients require a total of 8-10 treatments which are done twice a week each month. These treatments are spaced out 3-4 days apart.
